Description: This is a big beer with a hop bitterness that is nicely balanced with a light sweetness on the back thanks to residual sugar from the malt. A smooth, easy drinking beer. About the Name & Label: Hanno the Navigator was an explorer from Carthage in the 5th or 6th century BC. He was sent with 60 ships to explore and colonize the west coast of Africa. Near the end of his journey he encountered an island that was heavily populated with what he described as a very hairy, savage people. His interpreters called these people "Gorillai". Were these people actually gorillas? No one quite knows for sure. The name sure did stick around though. Our label has a star covered sky to reflect Hanno's only navigation tool at his disposal. The compass was not used for maritime navigation until 1111 AD.
