Description: “My favourite beer in the world is Pivo Pils from Firestone Walker,” he says. “I consider it to be one of the most well-balanced beers in the world. As a brewer, I fully appreciate how difficult it is to make a truly good Pilsner and since this happens to be one of my favourite beer styles, my first thought was to take that up a notch and do one with true BrewDog style. Hence the Imperial Pilsner. This is a higher ABV, slightly edgier pilsner than Kingpin retaining the classic malt character of the style but I went ahead and dry hopped it with some new age German aroma hops.” Jason used Magnum and Spalter in the boil but then added further additions of Callista into the whirlpool and then again at the dry-hop stage. Callista is a relatively new addition to the brewers’ arsenal, giving both a classically noble hop aroma and a welcoming flavour of citrus peel and juicy stonefruit. With the quintessential pilsner malt base and German lager yeast, his Pils is a revelation and rounds out at 6.0% ABV – it is going to be quite amazing on draft!
