Description: Blend n° 105 • bottling date: 28/08/19 • Bottle count: 230 This Speling van het Lot is an Oude Geuze, but not quite as one is used to. On March 9th 2017, we took a part of the brew and boiled it for 18 hours(!) instead of the usual five. This way, we achieved a higher density—at least but most probably a lot more than 20° Plato because that is the maximal indication on our refractometer—instead of around 13° Plato. Afterwards, we elevated it to a lambik on a dedicated oak barrel as always. We let it sit for almost 2,5 years and then blended it with a bit of wort to get the bottle conditioning going. Consequently, the weighted average age of this Cuvée Armand & Gaston when bottling was 26 months. Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen “Speling van het Lot” (Twist of Fate) is a series of small batch experimental brews, barrel maturations, fruit macerations and/or blends.
