Description: The Stout family falls into two basic groups. There are dry stouts like dry Irish and Foreign Stout, and then there are sweet stouts like Oatmeal and Milk stout. We present our Honeycutt Milk Stout brewed with lactose sugar. The milk stout style is dark brown to black in color with a creamy tan head. There is noticeable sweetness from the unfermentable lactose sugars along with a chocolate roasty quality and moderate bitterness. Around 1910 Charlie Honeycutt lived at 900 Virgie St. in Durham, operating a popular liquor house. Shots were sold in the back of the house. Liquor was hidden under the floorboards of the back bedroom closet, under the cushions of a sofa, and in cabinets in the back hallway. Small bottles were also sold to take home. Charlie helped to establish the first “take your daughter to work day” as he would also drive around West Durham with his daughter, delivering bottles to customers.
