Description: When the opportunity arose to order some unusual yeasts from Omega Yeast there was only one thing for it - a Farmhouse Face Off. We brewed a base beer designed to showcase the unique characteristics of two traditional farmhouse yeasts with century-long histories. The identical base beer was split into two. One half ‘Lithuania’ was fermented with Jovaru, one of the oldest Lithuanian yeast strains sourced from the brewery of the queen of Lithuanian farmhouse ales, Aldona Udriene. The other, ‘Norway’ was fermented with the Voss Kveik yeast originating from the Gjernes farmstead in Norway.
