Description: Brewed to commemorate the 2nd annual International Gruit Day, Church Key’s Namastale is a Finnish Sahti style. Gruit is an unhopped Ale that predates the use of hops in beer. Using instead spices and other botanicals. On the brew day , we lined the bottom of the mash tun with a basket weave of juniper boughs, then mashed Canadian Two row barley and our own heated well water, the aroma of pine filled the room. rosemary was added to the kettle to add depth to the spice. The result is piney with focaccia aromatics accenting the sweet two row malt.
