Description: Saison is less a style of beer than it is a story. Born in Wallonia, the French speaking region of Belgium, it was brewed by farmers to be consumed by their seasonal workers, saisonniers. These early farmhouse ales were rustic, but bright and likely a little tart. It’s easy to picture the agrarian workers pausing at midday and passing a jug of ale as they sit in the shade to wait out the heat. Through the years, Saison has evolved with each brewer providing their own spin on the tale, like an alehouse version of freeform jazz. Our entry, Saison Des Moines, stays true to the essential character of Saison, full-flavored and exceptionally refreshing. Notes of citrus and banana lead into soft spiciness before a dry and lifting finish that leaves you wanting more. It’s conditioned in the can so you can store it until your next harvest season, but we think anytime is a fine time for Saison! Cheers!
