Description: Number 1 is actually the third in the Confluence 2015 Saison Series along with Des Moines Saison and Frère Jacques. It offers a big farmhouse style golden ale with medium body and a malty/peppery spice finish. The grain bill is a combination of Belgian pils, Belgian and German caramel malts and blue corn. Typically Saisons/Belgian-style beers also have a simple sugar component. We used simple dextrose (corn sugar) derived from the same blue corn that gives our Blue Corn Lager its name. The French Saison yeast ferment the sugar completely preventing the beer from becoming too sweet and cranking up the ABV to a proceed-with-caution 9.6%. German Magnum and Czech Saaz hops round out the recipe.
