Description: During WW2, Operation Neptune, the naval component of Operation Overlord, began in the early hours of 6 June 1944 (designated D-Day), off a stretch of France’s northern coast. This astonishing force included 284 warships, including five battleships, 23 cruisers, and scores of destroyers and destroyer escorts. Battleships Arkansas (BB-33) and Texas (BB-35) shelled Omaha Beach for hours. The successful invasion of northern France on D-Day became one of the major events in U.S. naval history. Rear Admiral Kirk, reflecting on the day, stated, “Our greatest asset was the resourcefulness of the American sailor.” “Thank God for the United States Navy!” - Major General Leonard T. Gerow Commemorating the inception of Cypress Creek Southern Ales on June 6th, 2017 and the Owners/Brewers own US Navy background, we offer this American Barleywine as complex as Operation Neptune itself. Rich maltiness, with a sweet, caramelly character that greets the nose. Strong, rich malt flavor with a chewy, full-body and a velvety, luscious texture. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth on the finish.
