Description: Our Big Old Red Ale was brewed in February and aged in barrels for seven months. The ale is dark amber with ruby highlights. Waves of malt sweetness hit your palate first in this beer, caramel and smoke that twist into fruit flavors of apricot and fresh cherries. The wood and aging flavors finish the beer with a dry-oak character, hints of sherry, leather and oak. Go Big Red! 8% Alc/Vol 18.8o OG 44 IBU Malts: Marris Otter, Breiss Cherrywood Smoked, Crystal 77 and Carafa III Hops: El Dorado and Cluster BREWER’S NOTES Historically speaking Old Ale is English barleywine-style beer that has aged in oak for 6 months to a year. These dark amber to tawny- brown colored ales portray a serious depth of character from their extended aging and strong alcohol content and typically are released to commemorate special occasions.
