Description: Vanilloak Oatmeal Porter is a song of fire and ice, taking the rugged old world beer style and putting our new school spin on it. Originally a strong beer from the late 1700's in England, Porter was the beer of choice for merchants and laborers. The battle for Vanilloak to stay loyal to its roots begins with it's malt profile, rich in British base malt and kilned malts, it emits a complex character that exhibits the traditional ashy notes once trademark to its family’s house. To Fieldworkify this beer we added a hefty amount of oats to give it a chewier mouthfeel and increased its bitterness slightly to give more balance and drinkabilty. To replicate the wooden casks Porter was originally stored in we age Vanilloak on fresh oak.
