Description: A part of the Single Tank Series. During the first wave of craft brewing’s infancy in the early to mid-90’s, Amber Ales were as common as IPA’s are today. It seemed that every small brewery made an amber ale that was malty but not sweet, and hoppy but not bitter. We’re not sure why Amber Ales went by the wayside; we think they’re great, so we decided to go back in time and brew one just like it would have been brewed 20 years ago. We tracked down some once popular malts (carastan) and hops (Galena) then brewed up some history. First Wave Amber Ale has a strong caramel and toasted malt background with a sturdy but not aggressive hop presence. It weighs in at 6.5% ABV and has a beautiful amber/garnet color. Have a taste of craft brewing’s past.
