Description: Red Poppy Belgian IPA This hybrid beer style has the aromatic, hoppy punch of an IPA from the liberal hop additions in the kettle and in the fermentor (dryhopping). It also has the distinctive fruity ester and spicy phenolic yeast flavors characteristic of Belgian golden strong ales and tripels. This brew is dryhopped with Mosaic, Saaz, and Styrian Golding. The tropical aromas of Mosaic hops reinforce the fruity yeast esters, then earthy spicy aromas from the European hops mirror the spicy yeast phenolics, keeping the beer nicely balanced. Then honey and rye malts add sweet spicy malt character for added interest. The result is a hoppy IPA with a complex aromatic character. Named after the national flower of Belgium.
