Description: Avast ye, bier lubbers, as we tell a tale of hops, yeast, fermentation, and rum. Lakewood and Rahr & Sons, two old-salt breweries from the Metroplex, brainstormed together for their second annual collaboration. The result is a big, beautiful, Rum Oak-Aged Cherry Baltic Porter. Born in the late 1700s, this style was made to survive travel on the high seas as it made its way to Baltic ports and markets. We added some extra heave-ho to ours by tossing in sweet cherries and aging it on spiced rum-soaked oak staves. It was the next best thing to aging it on a ship’s deck. So splash a glass with it, hold it high, and give a yo-ho-ho to friendship — and to dry land.
