Description: Home Turf has been a long time in the making. We brewed the base beer in 2012, Wild Farmwell Wheat, the first beer Lost Rhino brewed with a yeast strain that was isolated locally. After two fermentations with two different yeasts we isolated ourselves, we re-fermented for a third time in American Oak, on blackberries, grape skins and with our own house culture of wild organisms. The result is a balanced sour ale, with strong Brettanomyces and Saccharomyces funk, light fruitiness and a champagne-like dry finish. This beer has been with us for a long time before we decided to release it. The (locally isolated) yeast-driven flavors of this beer embody the spirit of our brewery, hence the name: Home Turf.
