Description: Being a lager house we decided to put our own spin on a classic Belgian-style Dark Strong Ale. On top of that, the mash was soured with a little help from our friend lactobacillus. From there six pounds of freeze dried tart cherries were added to the whirlpool at the end of the boil. The yeast is a blend of 80% German Lager yeast and 20% Trappist yeast. The initial flavor is undoubtedly tart but finishes quite smooth and nutty. The color is dark red, and the aroma is sweet with hints of oatmeal. The head is tan and laces beautifully. Enjoy this one-off, it won’t be around long.
