Description: The first beer is marketed as a barley wine and was brewed around the year of 1870. It’s called a barley wine because it is strong as wine, but brewed from grain rather than grapes. The British invented Barleywine when Napoleon stopped the export of wine during the Napoleon Wars. The British brewers invented this style as a replacement by brewing a strong beer without too much hops. This barley wine is brewed with plenty of caramel malt, rye and melanoidin malt which gives a lovely hint of caramel and honey. Long-term lagered with French oak gives it a nice aftertaste of oak and vanilla. Fermented at a temperature that allows the yeast to form fruity esters which provides a soft balance between alcohol, French oak and hops. Should be enjoyed at 10-12°C, (50-54°F) in a Munkebo glass highlighting smells like caramel, honey and vanilla. Megingjord is the name of Thor’s belt. The belt has the magical property that the more it is stretched, the greater strength to gives the wearer. Mengingjord means “power belt” and the gjord is an old Danish word for belt.
