Description: Swiss Mrs. Alpine Alt is a Sticke Altbier, a type of German Ale that was typically stronger and darker than traditional Altbiers. We then added a dose of lactose, unfermentable sugar, for a shot of sweetness, added some organic cocoa nibs for an indulgent chocolatey flavor and topped it off with hand toasted marshmallows in the mash. Swiss Mrs. Alpine Alt is our entry for the 2013 Holiday Ale Fest in Portland. She is a deep amber/brown ale with cocoa aromas on the nose. The body is sweet yet balanced by a shot of German and American hops. The finish is clean with a touch of roasty malt on the end.
