Description: This is based on our traditional brown porter and it usually comes out just before Halloween (which has recently become late for pumpkin beers - WTF?! - since when are pumpkins available in August?!!). We wait for the fresh sugar pie pumpkins to come in, clean them by hand, dredge the pumpkin meat in spices, roast it low and slow, dump it into the brew kettle, and then throw a portion of the pumpkin right into the fermentor. Brewed with nearly a pound and a half of fresh roasted sugar pie pumpkin in every gallon of beer. This recipe was in development for for over 10 years, brewed in this form for the last four, and in our opinion, is the absolute best pumpkin beer available (and I've tried them all!) - not squashy, not overly spicy, this is a very full flavored beer that ages surprisingly well for it's low ABV. Available on draft in the fall, with a portion set aside for bottle conditioning.
