Description: Ol’ Grundy Humper is a simultaneous ode to tradition and innovation, a worthy aspiration we have for all our beers. The traditional aspect, the English Barleywine, was our muse and, as one of the first folks to brew a Wheat Wine back in the aughts, we have a bit of a history in messing with this style. The innovation part is in the malt bill and hops. We forewent the darker caramel malts of the classic Barleywine in favor of slightly more dry and tart pale malts. We then single hopped our pale barleywine with Rakau hops, a very New World hop from New Zealand, that lends a serious note of stone fruit to the aroma and flavor of the beer. High gravity. High drinkability. It’ll warm you up on these cold winter nights but be sure to go easy!
