Description: Colony Collapse is our most recent collaboration with our dear friends at Superstition Meadery while raising Honeybee awareness with our friends at the Arizona Honeybee Festival . This double IPA was a first for them, as we decided to skip the honey and let the mead boys finally make a collab beer excluding their most crucial ingredient. Brewed with Pilsner malt, flaked wheat, and golden oats and then dosed in the whirlpool with a small amount of zest from Arizona-grown citrus. We gave this one our standard/intense double dry hop treatment using massive amounts of Citra and a little Amarillo to back it up. We are getting almost zero perceived bitterness due to a new hopping strategy. We're getting huge aromas of dried mango slices, lychee, and rich orange blossoms. The beer drinks straight citrus juice, tons of clementine with lime zest coming through on the finish.
