Black Frost Barleywine | Brewer's Alley
ABV: 8.4%
Style: Barleywine - English
Actively Produced
Description: This style originated in England. It is called barleywine because it is made from barley (as with most all beer) and is of a similar alcoholic strength as wine. It also needs to age like wine because the alcohol content is so high; through time the alcohol flavor will blend in with the beer. This barleywine was brewed using a unique process called “sour mashing”. This beer is complex in many ways and has a depth of character not found in typical beers. It does not have a pronounced hop character, but as the beer warms up, more flavors will come out.
