Description: “A beer created for The Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra's Espresso Series: No. 1 German Blend and Hub City Tap House in Spartanburg, SC. Almost 13 years after the beautiful String octet in E-flat major, Op. 20, was written, Felix Mendelssohn was still inspired by Leipzig. In 1838, he creating a watercolor painting of his childhood hero Johann Sebastian Bach's studio and apartment. His hand took to watercolor and oils well after his early music work in the mid 1820's and after most of his operas and symphonies were logged as masterpieces in the 1830's. This beer reflects his time in Leipzig; after the cello's pizzicato, the viola's arpeggio and the violin's final bow strokes had stopped, it was time to drink dark beer made with wheat from the fields surrounding Leipzig, and this is that beer. Made in the traditional style of Germany, this Dunkel/Kirschenbier boasts crystal maltiness, low bitterness and is bursting with sweet fall cherries, a smooth sipper for a cool October evening.” **Watercolor painting by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (dated 1838) of the Thomaskantorei in Leipzig
