Description: Neddles is our sour brown ale aged in rum barrels. Beginning with a malt bill of Pilsner, Munich and caramel malts with a touch of flaked maize, the beer undergoes fermentation with an American ale yeast. We then add pediococcus and lactobacillus and transfer to oak barrels previously used for aging rum at our neighbors, New England Distilling. Neddles is a deep copper color with aromas of stone fruit, sour apples, and caramel. Notes of berry, apple, and molasses are punctuated by a mild tartness in the flavor. A full body gives way to a dry, mellow finish.
