Description: In 1902 a blacksmiths' shop opened in Lacombe. It has not closed its doors since. Having made the tools essential for pioneer life this blacksmiths' shop and its kin were the centerpieces of creativity and survival. The idea of the triphammer has been around since the Zhou Dynasty of 1000BCE and modern versions are still used today, here. There is something powerfully vitalizing about the pair of trip hammers in our shop stretching and shaping hot steel; quietly whispering "create, innovate, invigorate" amongst the smashing of hammers to anvil. The flavours and aromas present in this robust porter harken to the smiths' shop with prominent notes of chocolate, coffee and smoke apparent from first wiff and sip. We feel a true kinship to the lineage of craftspeople who came before us and we brew this beer hoping they and you would appreciate it.
