Description: The Purple is a multi-year blend of our spontaneous golden base beer that is fermented and aged in oak casks. When mature, we sample barrels to find components to complement the character of the freshly picked black and red raspberries from a favorite Oregon farm. This blend is then transferred into secondary oak tank with the fresh fruit, where it referments and ages. Finally, we transfer the now fruit forward composition into blending tank, where we add yet more very mature stock to target our desired fruit intensity and overall character. Very dark, with notable purple and red tones reflecting the fruit intensity that follows. The black raspberries always add a touch of extra body to the brew, and this batch has a greater richness.
