Description: Whiskey casks served as a basis for batch 39, within which the La Trappe Quadrupel aged for more than 2 years. These casks originate from distilleries of the Irish 'Jameson' and the Scottish 'Speyside' region. Before the barrels were used for the ageing of whiskey, they were first used for the production of sherry. Aromas of both liquors are recognizable in this batch. The batch offers a somewhat fruity aroma, with immediately identifiable pear and dark forest fruit tones. In the background, soft oak and vanilla aromas can be detected. The palate begins sharp, and the whisky is subtly present. As the sip progresses, the taste softens. Liquorice and natural liquorice root emerge in the aftertaste. The whiskeys used in this ale are, in contrast to most Scotch whiskies, very soft in flavour. This results in a well-balanced and approachable ale. Batch 39 was blended in August of 2020.
