Description: Our Absolution Ale is an American Amber Ale, but also very similar in style to an IPA. It is a reasonably big beer with a well balanced profile. This means that it has a medium body and a good balance of the malt and hops with neither overpowering the other. The body of the Absolution Ale is moderately full with nice caramel tones, and should finish a touch sweet. The hop character is most noticeable as a hop flavor and hop aroma although it will have some hop bitterness in the finish. Single-hopped beers are a current trend in the craft brewing industry. With all the new hops coming out, brewers are getting to know them by brewing beers using the hops one at a time. That’s a useful way to learn about new hops, but it’s also a fun thing to do with hops we already know and love. We picked Nuggets because they have a reputation as being a boil-only or blending hop. Nuggets are potent, but we know how to handle them. So for our single-hop brew, we used only Nuggets – Nuggets in the boil, Nuggets in the whirlpool and we dry hopped with more Nuggets!
