Description: The fine folks at Riverbend Malt in Asheville, NC produce some of the finest craft malt in the country utilizing locally grown varieties of grains. Our Grätzer was brewed with 100% Appalachian Winter Wheat, 67% of that wheat was smoked over pecan wood for a soft delicate layer of smoke. Grätzer was run through multiple temperature rests and single decocted, hopped with German Grown Saaz, fermented with our favorite German lager yeast in stainless steel then lagered in freshly dumped red wine barrels. Extremely dry and effervescent while still maintaining a soft body and a subtle blanket of smoke. The German grown Saaz provides a snappy bitterness accentuated by a hard water profile.
