Description: A well balanced light, golden, hoppy bitter. Grapefruit nose and citrus flavours give way to a mellow, slightly sweet after-taste. Complex malt character ensures it drinks well beyond its abv. Easy to drink and annoyingly moreish. “People’s Choice” at Chesterfield BF 2008 and SIBA Midlands Region Silver Medal 2011 - Standard Bitters category. One hundred years ago the market town of Chesterfield was a thriving, bustling and hard-working industrial town, and the town’s breweries and their pub estates were at the very heart of the community. Brampton Brewery had a 130 barrel plant and they brewed 6 days a week at peak times - meaning a weekly production of almost 30,000 gallons of ale in a single week. It was also an age where brewers didn’t feel compelled to dress up their brews in fancy names and descriptions, they were just simple descriptions of what you were buying like “Brown Ale”, “Stout” and “Mild”. “Golden Bud” did seem to buck that particular trend and as a beer name it is about as fancy and descriptive as they went. Our version is not a Strong Ale as the original was, but we feel our design of beer fits the name well.
