Description: This year’s release of the Devil’s Kriek marks the fourth year and most tart version. The 2011 version features the addition of more cherries to the fermenter, and the wild yeast Brettanomyces Lambicus was allowed free reign for an additional two months in aging to develop it’s sourness and character. All said and done, the beer was kept at cellar temperature for 13 months prior to kegging and on whole fruit for 50 weeks. The Devil’s Kriek employed a Flanders Red Ale base prior to the addition of 200 lbs of Bing Cherries from Matt’s orchard in Duke Valley. The Devil’s Kriek developed a classic Brett character typical of beers in the style and used a mixture of three yeast strains to complete it’s mission to provide complexity.
