Description: Aged for 10 months in High West Rye Whiskey Barrels, Rise of the Dark Gourd was brewed with 150lbs of applewood smoked Sugar Pie Pumpkins, rubbed with cinnamon and nutmeg. When aged on Rye oak, the vanilla and subtle spice notes of the wood bring forth the smoked pumpkin flesh and spice. At 10.4%, a soft warmth is present on the palate, combined with a well aged dark malt character that is reminiscent of cacao, or very bitter chocolate. Will pour a pitch black with a tannish brown head. A little bit of warming will bring forth more of the pumpkin, spice, and wood character.
