Sign of the Wolf (2019) | Fort George Brewery
ABV: 12.5%
Style: Barleywine - English
Description: "Barleywine is the drink of the gods, the intellectual ones anyway. Few beverages can equal the complexity of flavors that a properly aged barleywine has: malt, fruit, spice, and warmth from the high level of alcohol." - John Palmer This massive, ominous beast of a beer is assertively rich and intense. Aged for over a year in french cognac puncheons, cognac barrels, and Kentucky bourbon barrels. Unlike it's cousin the American Barleywine, the star of the English Barleywine is the malt, with little to no noticeable hop profile. A wide array of big flavors of date sugar, figs, plums, caramel, vanilla, toasted bread, and cinnamon blend into an almost dessert like beer. Sip this by the fire.
