Description: This Beer Week collaboration spans the state of Arizona. From the north, both Wanderlust Brewery and Mother Road Brewery brought roasted piñon nuts and high country hops. From central Arizona, Four Peaks Brewery and Huss Brewery threw in some locally grown orange peel and native tepary beans - a staple of the indigenous people for centuries. And from southern Arizona, Ten Fifty-Five Brewery and Dragoon Brewery added locally grown Sonoran white wheat and even more southern harvest hops. A Weizenbock was chosen for the style to accommodate the Sonoran wheat. The brewers also thought the spicy character of the yeast would enhance the nuttiness of the piñon and the earthiness of the tepary beans. The orange peel and local hops were added at the end of the boil for a nice, citrusy note. The result was a wonderful, spicy, fruity, unfiltered Weizenbock made up of Arizona-grown and procured indigenous ingredients. It is a hazy chestnut color and weighs in at 7.5% ABV. Its earthy and spicy character are all Weizenbock but with hints of a Belgian Trippel.
