Description: Antwerpen Stout returns to our taproom, this time after spending a month in bourbon whisky barrels over at St. James Gate in Dublin. This beer is a lead into our barrel conditioning and aging project, which will be a key focus of our brewing philosophy here are the Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House. This pitch black beer has a tan head, and smells distinctly of bourbon and caramel, with a hint of vanilla. Warming bourbon flavors are backed up by sweet butterscotch and ripe dark fruit notes, but it still retains the roasted character of the base stout. As a perfect accompaniment to the cold weather, this stout finishes full and round, with cherry and berry elements reminiscent of port.
