Description: Dark Explorations 2023 was dreamt up late in the year of 2022 during the creation of our first Darkest Treasures release. After making the initial blend, we then split this blend into 2 barrels of Peach Brandy to add additional character and build on top of the 33% blend of barleywine layered in. After 10 months of soaking up the peach brandy, we blended the 2 barrels back together and blended in a 25 month VSOP cognac barrel-aged stout to smooth out the heat from the peach brandy, and layer in additional notes of caramel, toffee, and sweet cognac. The release of Dark Explorations 2023 continues to be our journey into the experimentation and expression of spirit barrel-aged beers free from the use of adjuncts.
