Description: Much like a stripper looking for new dance moves, we're always looking for new techniques in the brewhouse to create interesting and unique results. This time around we opened up the throttle on how we were contributing hop flavors and bitterness. After a little research on mash hopping (adding hops to the mash along with grain), we figured, WHY NOT. In they went! We also wanted to move into some other varieties we haven't used in a while to change things up. The grain was simple but varied in style to impart a crisp snappiness but also some rounded out caramel notes for balance. Mainly we didn't want the grain to get in the way of the hops but more to be a backbone. We knew we wanted an over the top hop presence from start to finish. With Warrior hops in the mash and Columbus in the kettle, we knew there would be no absence of bitterness. Chinook, Centennial, Liberty and Sterling were going to be an interesting combination that would bring more than just citrus hop notes. It really is a potpourri of hops. Dry humped, I mean hopped, with copious amounts of the same varietals there is no shortage of piney, floral, grassy-citrus aromas. The orange peel also registers in the background as a bit of a voyeuristic element. From start to finish this beer is an enamel "stripper." Somehow it has a smoothness to it despite stabbing your taste buds with a six inch stileto. So drink up and enjoy the pain, I mean pleasure.
