Description: This sessionable black ale was first brewed in late 2020 with the goal of showcasing a new-to-us hop varietal, Idaho Gem. The original pilot batch got its jet-black color from the use of midnight wheat, and hence the working title became “midnight gem sesh." The recipe went through a few iterations to achieve a harmonious balance of fruity hop aromatics with notes of coffee, chocolate and tobacco from the dark specialty malts. A surprisingly light body coupled with a low ABV make this an excellent beer choice for anyone burning the midnight oil on a cool summer night. Peace, love & cheers!
