Description: Light amber in color with only a slight haze, this beer was born on February 8th, in the hamlet of Hillsborough, NC. Liberty supplied the rye, Zythos hops and Czech lager yeast and the boys and girls at Mystery brought the pilsner malt, Summit hops and the brewery! Fruity hop character and rye are on the nose. Upon drinking, the black pepper notes from the rye malt really come through and last in the finish. Even though there was a healthy amount of hops used in the batch, this beer isn't tremendously bitter. Since a lager yeast was used, fruity esters are suppressed which allows for the nuances of the rye to be in the spotlight. A slight alcoholic warmth is in the lingering finish.
