Description: Kappy's Barrel Series #14. This immense beer is Mystic's The Day of Doom Belgian style Quad, aged in one of our Bourbon barrels. The beer, when I had a sample bottle a week ago, was huge. It was a little Scotchy on the fore-palate, before letting you know it is there. The flavour is big and intense, despite extensive bottle aging. The barrel flavours are there and amazing. One of the best parts, to me, is that the beer is a massive 12% ... and you won't know it from the taste. Intense flavours, big body and alcohol, rich malt and all in balance. This beer is, to me, young. I compare it to some of the great Bordeaux I have had, where it needs some time in the bottle to mature, for the flavours to come together harmoniously and soften. Don't miss this beer.
