Description: In early March of 2016 we filled three Four Roses Bourbon barrels procured by Schnucks in a collaborative effort to create three unique variants of Coal Train. The barrels add a nice balance of oak to the sweetness of the beer, and vanilla from the wood coupled with a hearty bourbon character become the base for these three variants. We sourced our ingredients for these variants from our local Schunck’s stores…. Dates & Currants: The flavors of the dates and currants blend so well with the toffee, caramel and raisin notes already present in the beer. We added dried dates and currants to the barrel which add a subtle nutty sweetness while enhancing the raisin character of the beer.
