Description: Released 11/5/2015. This beer was made for the Beer Made by Walking program and was inspired by a nature walk on Green Island during the Living River Celebration put on by McKenzie River Trust. The two herbs used were spotted on the walk and give a light herbal and citrus note. The inspiration to make a brett beer came when we walked Down by the River and heard the naturalist explain how Urban development tries to control rivers to promote growth and prohibit destruction. When conservationists step in to let the river return too it’s natural state, there is no telling what might happen year to year, but it certainly is better for the flora and fauna of the area. This analogy is compared to Saccromyces (brewers) yeast vs. Brettanomyces (wild) yeast. The Brett will do what it wants, like the river, and is rather unpredictable. While the results are sometimes unknown, it is often better in the end.
