Description: Schoppe Private Stock Doppelsticke is a "double secret" version of the classic Altbier style. Brewed to a higher gravity (OG 1.085) than regular Altbier, it has a rich, malty flavor with a pronounced German hop flavor and bitterness. The grain bill consists of a base of Pilsner and Munich Type 2 malts with Caramunich and Caraaroma added for color and flavor. Magnum hops are used for bittering, Select Spalt for flavor, and Hallertau Mittelfruh for aroma. The beer is fermented with a German ale yeast strain and then lagered at cold temperatures to give a clean, crisp finish with a hint of fruitiness. This beer is a collaboration with Mark Schoppe. Mark has been homebrewing for over twenty years. He has won hundreds of awards at competitions over the years. Highlights include winning the Ninkasi Award at the National Homebrewer's Conference in 2012 and 2015, and winning the Lone Star Circuit Homebrewer of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Ideally served at 50 – 55°F.
