Description: Beatification (Batch 001-PH1) stems from the friendship between Russian River Brewing Company and New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado. During the summer of 2005, Natalie & Vinnie, proprietors of RRBC, had a surprise visit from their friend, Lauren Salazar. Lauren is the QA and Sensory Analyst for New Belgium Brewing Co., one of the most notable breweries in America. After telling Lauren that RRBC was aging a beer in used La Folie barrels, she asked to see the barrels. Lauren took one look at them and erupted with enthusiasm (and a little sadness) as if it was her long lost child, exclaiming “Oh, it’s PH1! I have always wondered what happened to this barrel. The absolute best La Folie and Love came from this particular barrel. I can’t believe Peter gave it away. But, I am relieved to know that it has found a good home and that it’s not in someone’s yard growing flowers”. New Belgium's brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, had offered to us PH1 and other used La Folie barrels in which to age one of our specialty brews. After two years of aging our Beatification in PH1, the first "vintage" was released. Beatification is refermented in bottle to create its fine carbonation - a process commonly used in Champagne and sparkling wine. Spent Yeast cells form a thin layer in the bottom of the bottle adding even more complexity and flavors. Pour slowly to allow the natural sediment to remain in the bottle.
