Description: Appearances are deceiving and nothing is as it seems. Jabberwocky takes its name from the nonsense poem within Lewis Carrol's Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There - a world of imagination and obfuscation, of losing our compass and sense of direction. The verse is known for its use of evocative and invented language while still making use of conventional verse structures. Cascadian Dark Ales (or Black IPAs) are similarly an "invented" style while making use of the established traditions of brewing, in this case layering bold American hop characters against a backdrop of rich firm malts, suggesting earthy roasted and toasty flavours. Like the poem itself, grappling with a lithe, slippery concept that seems firm one minute and fragile the next, capturing a dreamlike quality that is elusive and transitory. Taste: Big piney American hops clothe a rich body that hints towards darker earthier malts Hops: Amarillo, Simcoe Malt: Pale malt & Light Crystal, Cara Special B Look: Rich mahogany Aroma: Orange, tangerine and grapefruit leaping from the glass Try it with: Smoked, slow cooked or charred meats, BBQ
